How it works

Three hundred kilometres of nothing to look at, narrated.

There is a stretch of road most of us drive without ever learning what happened on it.

  1. Engraving of an empty country road running out across farmland toward a low sun, a carved stone milestone at the verge.1

Start a drive, or plan the route first

Press start and go, or name where you are heading and let the route be prepared before you leave.

  2. Engraving of a fortified hilltop village above a winding road climbing through olive terraces.2

Stories find you as the landscape changes

The next place worth knowing about arrives when you reach it — read aloud, over your music, without touching the phone.

  3. Engraving looking back from a mountain pass over a road switchbacking through the valley already travelled.3

The journey becomes an edition you keep

Every trip lands in your journal with its route, its stories and its narration, ready to replay or publish.

Stories are triggered by where you are, not by what you are driving — it works the same from the window seat of a train.

Live narration

Stories find you.

Listen as the landscape changes.

atlas. watches the road ahead, finds the place worth knowing about, writes the story grounded in real records and reads it to you before you have passed it.

  • Runs in the background — the phone can stay in your pocket
  • Journey Arc: name a destination and the drive becomes one long story, from the farewell to your own city to the history of where you are going
  • Your music ducks or pauses for the story, then comes back
  • Set the rhythm: frequent, balanced or spacious, adapting to your speed

Route preflight

Plan once. Listen offline.

Turn a route into a road edition before you leave.

Name where you are going and atlas. prepares the whole route in advance — stories written, narration recorded onto the device. Mountain passes, tunnels, the border of every mobile network: none of it matters once the edition is built.

  • See your story stops and the time to each one before you commit
  • Drive this route: prepared stories play as you reach each stop, entirely offline
  • Play all stories to listen through the whole route like an album
  • Keep every edition — a prepared route stays yours to drive again

    Choose your narrator

Twelve narrator characters, each with their own manner. Stories in English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian or Arabic; short, medium or long.

  • Themes and tone settings: history, architecture, legends and nature with tone qualities.

    Set the subject

History, architecture, legends, nature — and a lore mode that uses sourced folklore without inventing any. Pick up to five tone qualities, or describe the storyteller you want in your own words.

  • Journey settings controlling how often stories arrive and how they adapt to speed.

    Shape the way it speaks

Déjà-vu depth goes further each time you pass the same place, so a commute you have driven a hundred times keeps giving you something new.

Story sources

Grounded in the real world.

Places, records and local lives — not invented scenery.

Every story is written from public sources tied to the exact spot you are passing. You choose which ones the storyteller may draw on.
